About Us
Rooted strives to make The Gospel, the arts, and mental health services accessible to all children and families across West Alabama and beyond. We believe in the transformative power and healing that the arts and mental health services have. We hope that bringing Rooted into our most vulnerable and under-resourced areas will have a transformative, generational impact in Tuscaloosa and beyond.
Meet the Team
It all began with two moms who wanted to leave their children with a community that was a little stronger and better than how they found it. Rooted started as an adaptive dance class. It grew in purpose and numbers into what is a more comprehensive approach to integrating the arts, mental health services, and The Gospel to children in our community.
We started as colleagues at The University of Alabama where we often shared dreams about a world where our loved ones with various needs and abilities could thrive. A more accessible, equitable, kinder world that gets to the root of societal issues and makes meaningful change. We started Rooted so that we can be the bridge and fill in the cracks of our system that often leave the most vulnerable and underserved behind.
We believe all children deserve access to the arts, mental health services, and the transformative love of Jesus. We ask the hard questions and are not afraid to push the status quo, think outside of the box, and create meaningful programs for children and families across West Alabama and beyond.

Liz spent the past decade in both corporate and non-profit arenas in various marketing and communication roles. She spent the past 5 years working at her beloved alma mater in the University of Alabama's Division of Student Life. She had the opportunity to work with departments related to student health and wellbeing.
She spent the past 5 years developing an adaptive dance program for children in the Tuscaloosa community. After working with Jessica at UA, this idea developed into a more comprehensive approach to making the arts and mental health services accessible for the Tuscaloosa community.
Liz lives with her husband and two daughters in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Rooted was inspired by her beautiful and brilliant nephew, Hayes. Walking with her sister through Hayes' life-limiting diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy has inspired her to create programs and services for all children and families who need extra support.
