Let’s Make Tuscaloosa More Inclusive!
We did it! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we successfully raised the $50,000 needed to bring a Sensory Activation Vehicle (SAV) to Tuscaloosa! This incredible resource is currently being built by KultureCity, the world leader in improving sensory accessibility and acceptance for those with invisible disabilities and sensory needs.
By summer, the SAV will be in the hands of the Tuscaloosa Police Department, ready to serve our community at events and venues across the city. This means individuals who may experience sensory overload will have access to a quiet, calming space to take a break before re-engaging with others, allowing them to fully participate in community events without feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated.
With 1 in 4 individuals living with a sensory issue or other invisible disability, the impact of this SAV will be life-changing. By providing a space for relief, those who may have otherwise had to leave an event will now have the opportunity to stay and be included. This also means families and caregivers can more fully engage with their communities, knowing there is a safe and accessible option available for their loved ones.
We know that inclusion is vital to a thriving community, and this SAV is an incredible step toward making Tuscaloosa a more welcoming place for all. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort—together, we are making a lasting difference.
Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the SAV’s arrival, and join us in celebrating this exciting milestone for Tuscaloosa!
